Children's Ministries

Children are a vital part in the life of First Christian Church. Children learn and serve in many different areas of our congregational life. Older children serve as Acolytes during both worship services. They bring in the light of Christ at the beginning of worship, reminding us that Christ is present in the worship with us. At the close of worship, they take the light out reminding us that Christ preceeds us into the world to serve. Children also help feed the homeless by making sandwiches and serve in other mission opportunites in Arlington. Below are our ministries involving children.

  • Nursery

Nursery care is available during Sunday School for children up to three years of age. We ask that if you drop your child off, you leave a diaper bag, if necessary. The Nursery is located just down the hallway from the Sanctuary, adjacent to our Preschool Sunday School

  • Preschool Sunday School

Our three year olds through Kindergarten age children work through a curriculum of bible stories, crafts and play together. Three year olds are welcome to go back and forth to the Nursery as they transition to Sunday School. Location: Preschool Room (adjacent to the Nursery, down the hall from the Sanctuary).

  • Godly Play

During the 10:45 worship, we offer Godly Play for children ages 4 through 2nd grade. This begins after the children's sermon and runs through the end of worship. During this time, the children sing, encounter a Bible story, share a snack, and have fellowship time.

  • Logos

Our Logos Ministry is a mid-week opportunity for youth and children. Logos provides an opportunity for children and youth to interact with church, caring adults, and peers mid-week during the middle of the school week routines. It is a great place to invite friends also. Logos is for K- 8th grades, but each age group has separate activities geared just for them, surrounding a combined dinner time. Logos is based on Acts 2:42, "So they devoted themselves to the Apostles' teaching, fellowship, prayers, and the breaking of bread." So each Wednesday we base our time together around four parts. Study, fun, a shared meal around tables, and prayer. Click here for more details.
